Happy Pi Day! 🥧
3.14 Reasons to Celebrate
Today is March 14th, aka Pi Day — the one day a year where being irrational is not just accepted, it's celebrated.
As a software engineer, I feel a deep spiritual connection to pi. We're both:
- Never quite finished
- Impossible to fully resolve
- Appreciated mostly by nerds
A Brief History of Me and Pi
I first leant about the concept of pi day in school. Courtesy my nerdy friend
In college, I tried to memorize pi to 100 digits to impress people at parties. Spoiler: it did not work. Turns out, reciting "3.14159265358979..." while everyone else is dancing is not the vibe.
Fun Pi Facts (That Are Actually True)
- There's a pi day resolution in the U.S. Congress. Your tax dollars at work.
- The record for memorizing pi is 70,030 digits. That person definitely has their priorities straight.
In Conclusion
Pi is beautiful, infinite, and a little bit chaotic — kind of like a software project with no deadline.
Happy Pi Day! Now go eat some pie. You've earned it by reading this far.
— Ayush, writing this at exactly 3:14 PM (okay fine, it was 3:17, but let's round down)
